My name is Katie and I’m a junior in high school. I have been playing softball since I was 6 years old. I play for my high school’s softball team during the spring season and play travel softball as well during the summer and fall.

 

          I’m extremely passionate about volunteer work and helping out in my community. I joined Girl Scouts when I was only in Kindergarten and have continued on since then. I am also an active member of National Charity League (NCL), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping others in the community.

          I have had two concussions, which taught me a lot about concussions and their effects on people who have one, including myself. I realized that most people, especially in my community, don’t know much about concussions, so I wanted to take action by educating my community on this topic. Hopefully, people will learn a lot about concussions from my project and can spread their knowledge to others in the future.
